Visual Mail V3 - Miscellaneous

Changing startup options

Options can be changed under the Other... menu and in the Other options.... They are saved to the file .vmailrc in your home directory when you select the Save startup options menu item under the Other... menu. A complete list of all user customizable options is available.

Secondary files

There are various secondary files used by Visual Mail.

In your .names file, you can create a dist list. Each line corresponds to a single menu entry.

  1. Blank lines are separators
  2. If there are no colons in the line, then the first space separated field is the address(es) (comma separated) and the remainder of the line is inserted as the menu item text. ( This is for compatibility with old vmail 1 style .names files )
  3. If there are two colon (:) separated fields in the line, then the first field is the menu item text and the remainder the address(es). Multiple recipients can be blank separated.
  4. If there are three colon (:) separated fields, then the first field is the title for a submenu, the second is the title for the entry in the submenu, and the remainder the address(es). Multiple recipients can be blank separated.
