Thermal Shutdown
Thermal shutdown executes a shutdown to protect an overheating chassis from additional damage that may result from excessively hot temperatures.
Disabled | Does not automatically shut down the system when a temperature warning or failure event occurs. |
---|---|
Warning | Shuts down the system when a temperature warning event occurs. |
Critical/Failure | Shuts down the system only when a temperature failure event occurs. Does not shut down the system when a temperature warning event occurs. |
Severity Definitions
The severities relevant to thermal shutdown are:
Warning | A warning event occurs when any temperature probe inside a chassis reads a temperature (in degrees Celsius) that exceeds the maximum temperature warning threshold. Users can either accept default warning threshold definitions or specify the maximum and minimum temperature warning thresholds. |
---|---|
Failure | A failure event occurs when any temperature probe inside a chassis reads a temperature (in degrees Celsius) that exceeds the maximum temperature failure threshold. Users cannot set failure thresholds. Temperature failure thresholds are defined by the system manufacturer. |
